A Lie is a Lie and By Any Other Name, Sucks All the Same...

Lack of educational qualification has never been a moot point in Indian politics. So the brouhaha surrounding Ms Smriti Irani’s poll affidavits is misplaced. Fact remains though, that the alleged disparity has neither been denied nor admitted and an apology offered. And that cannot be brushed aside with the reply ‘judge me by my work’. The common man enjoys no such concessions. His application -even for admission into an educational institution – can be rejected outright if any of his claims in the said application is found to be erroneous  any time . Does ‘honesty’ merit anything at all in public domain? Maybe, ‘to err is human..in human resources’ after all!

Forever Corrupt

In our “Shining India” corruption is like religion-a way of life.Like the quality of Mercy, it’s twice blessed-by the one who gives and the one who receives. Just glancing at the ‘headlines’ or ‘Breaking News’ is enough to comprehend how corruption has spread like the Swine flu virus- 2G scam, Commonwealth Games scam, Adarsh housing Society scam, Marksheet scam, IPL scam, tax evasion, Dope scam, Unaccounted wealth in ashrams and temples, Black money in Swiss banks, the list goes on. Forget a full stop, there isn’t a pause even.

To put an end to this circus, what do we have? Anti Corruption Bureau, Right To Information and the like. Even if the corrupt are brought to book, our judiciary is slower than a snail and it takes generations before justice if at all, is meted out. Still there’s no guarantee the verdict will be just-the judges too come with a price tag, don’t you know? Sorry state of affairs, but what can you expect in a country where the erstwhile Chief Vigilance Commissioner himself was a bureaucrat accused of corruption? Who will police the police?

With political will, corruption may be controlled but eliminated? Come on, don’t be so naive.

The Karnataka Assembly minister claims he only intended to familiarize himself with rapes and rave parties in S.Arabia, in order to understand atrocities against women. Well, it’s time he got acquainted with crime and its punishment in S.Arabia too.What the minister indulged in,while the House was in progress,is atrocious and nothing short of voyeurism. And to insist the act was in line of his duty and hence plead not guilty, is shameful and outrageous. The hypocrisy,perversity and brazenness of attitude endorse the view  politics indeed, is the last resort of scoundrels. The party with ‘holier than thou’  posturing ought to have sacked the ministers instead of asking them to resign.
