The suspension of daring young IAS officer Durga Nagpal who took on the sand mining mafia with connections in high places, gives one a scary sense of deja vu (dna,29.7.13). One can’t help remembering whistle blowers Manjunath Shanmugam and Satyendra Dubey who paid with their very lives, fighting corruption and malpractices in their field of operation. Activists and media should keep a relentless vigil on such matters and ensure that honest officials don’t get harassed and more importantly, that criminals don’t go scot free.
