Look what I found while leafing through remembrance sweet- UR's poem that I made a copy of way back in 1980-81.
WE WHO EXIST
Like Gavaskar who says
stiff joints don’t bother him
he’s got iodex
we take life
as a whole, as a fraction,
as anything for peanuts.
Like computerized existences,
mechanically conduct ourselves
(obliterating that mangling violence
-that so called young bloodedness)
thro’ painless spheres of nature.
Our emotions-fractured
our thoughts -febrile.
Thus,we view and re-view slow-motioned changes
and taking note of our experiences,
dismiss our autobiographies with disgust.
I also remember J going ga-ga over the last line with her trademark dimple deepening with the curling of her lips and a deep sigh!
